Dear Friends,
Let me begin by thanking each and everyone of you who have continued to support the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the Sales and Marketing Council. We have never seen times in the homebuilding industry that have impacted so many!
In 2009, we saw more of our friends, colleagues and associates fall victim to the economic downturn. The old saying of "that which does not kill us makes us stronger” has a profound meaning to those of us who are still “surviving and thriving."
The Sales and Marketing Council spent 2009 changing and adapting to each new challenge we were faced with. We knew we would not be able to maintain the status quo of prior years. We leave 2009 behind and face 2010 with more determination and commitment than ever before.
This past year the members of the Sales and Marketing Council used all of our creative juices to provide many unique educational and entertaining opportunities for our membership. We officially launched the Atlanta Home Facts newsletter and web site, which provides builders, sales and marketing professionals and home buyers with the real “facts” concerning the homebuilding industry.
The SMC sponsored a technology forum, which helped educate attendees on the most up-to-date media solutions. We used the platform of the Southern Building Show to promote the highly successful Super Sales Rally. One of the most successful events was the Deals on Wheels Neighborhood Bus Tours, which featured 14 participating new home communities. This two-day event was attended by Realtors from all over the metro area.
The SMC also hosted a mega-garage sale to raise money for the council's charities, HomeAid Atlanta and Georgia Canines for Independence. They were the real winners of this event!
In 2010, the Sales and Marketing Council will continue to be proactive and adaptive in these uncertain times. I wish you good fortune and success in the coming year as we start to “building again in 2010!”
Sincerely,
Bob Kennedy, 2010 SMC Chair
