What are the OBIE Awards?
The OBIE Awards began in 1980 and have grown throughout the years to now feature more than 100 building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement categories in which to enter. The OBIE Awards, named after the obelisk shape of the actual award given, are the premier awards in the new home construction industry. Awards are given to recognize outstanding achievement in new home building, marketing, remodeling and personal achievement categories. The Sales and Marketing Council of the HBA presents the annual OBIE Awards every November. OBIE Award recipients stand out among their peers and are recognized for their oustanding achievements.
The OBIE Awards Committee is excited to announce the following changes for 2010:
- price discount for multiple entries
- new categories
- promotion of winners to home buyers/consumers through TV, print, online and intra-industry media

- April 16—Intent to Enter Workshop, 10 a.m.-noon
- April 30—Intent to Enter Deadline
- June 10—Q and A Workshop, 10 a.m.-noon
- June 18—Entry Materials and Photography Deadline
- Aug. 13-14—On-Site Judging
- Aug. 13—Personal Achievement Interviews
- Aug. 13—Meet the Judges Party, 6 p.m.
- Nov. 13—Awards Ceremony
- Jan. 28, 2011—Deadline to Claim 2010 Entry Materials
