GEORGIA LEAD CERTIFICATIONS ARE ONLY GOOD FOR 3 YEARS, EVEN IF YOU TOOK YOUR CLASS BEFORE GEORGIA GOT THEIR PROGRAM AND YOUR CERTIFICATION CARD SAYS IT IS GOOD FOR 5 YEARS!!!
On December 9, 2010 the State of Georgia adopted the Lead Renovation, Repair and Paining Rule (RRP) and issued their own regulations and they are different from the original EPA regulations. Now is the time to check your certification and get renewed or you may expire.
Here in Georgia, your RRP certification is only good for three (3) years. No matter when you took your class, you must obtain a license from the State of Georgia and renew your certification within three (3) years.
If you miss your three (3) year mark, you can BUY the 4th year from the state of Georgia (you pay double the licensing fee for that year). This will buy you one (1) more year before you have to take your 1/2 day refresher class. If you go over the 4th year, then you must take the initial all over again!
