Professional Bio
As a child, I would sit in the corner of new homes being built and watch the carpenters. I
would watch over my father and grandfather while they renovated homes I grew up in,
eventually earning their trust to swing my own hammer. I went on to study architecture
and swim collegiately at the University of Kentucky, and while those two things are not
compatible, I stuck with swimming and earned a BA in Foreign Language (Spanish) and
Economics.
I went on to earn an MBA shortly after college while working. While my love for building
and creating always stayed with me, it was a 22yr career in adult beverage that taught
me how to run a business. Coupled with my hobby of woodworking and home
improvement, I started Commissioned Contractors from the perspective of a homeowner.
As proof of concept to move into general contracting full time, I was asked to renovate
a Cross-fit gym with new men’s/women’s locker rooms, kitchen, offices and went on to
renovate my own kitchen during the summer of Covid. From there my business grew
organically from designers I made custom furniture for, asking me to oversee
renovations for their clients. The business continues to grow exclusively from referrals
through past clients, architects, designers and structural engineers who have worked with
me on projects that span from renovations to custom ground up homes to commercial
build-outs.
I’ve spent seven years building a team of sub-contractors who carry the same values and
core principals in their work as I do. It has allowed us to truly be proud of the projects
we build and I think our client referrals and testimonials speak for themselves.
